Aker Floating Production celebrated Start of Oil Production in September 2008 from FPSO (Dhirubhai 1), 16 months after contract award. By this Aker Floating Production has proven to be a fast track FPSO provider of complex FPSOs.

Tankers to be converted are carefully selected for suitability and longevity in the marine FPSO environment. The Aker Smart FPSO can be delivered with both a spread mooring system and a turret mooring system that allows the FPSO to weathervane.

Aker Floating Production‘s modularized approach provides significant flexibility in addressing operational needs, without compromising the benefits of standardization. Specifications for the production plant on board Aker Smart FPSOs and those of add-on modules are based on extensive research on upcoming FPSO field-delveopement projects, as well as management‘s experience and direct interaction with prospective clients.
